Meet Subina, founder of The Muslim Ticket

I couldn’t make it to this years Muslim Tech Fest, but I did keep up with Instagram posts from the organisers and event-goers. That’s how I discovered The Muslim Ticket and fell in love with its purpose and mission.

Founded by Subina, this platform is the perfect example of someone noticing a gap in the Muslim market and taking action. Think Eventbrite but for Muslims.

So, why do we need The Muslim Ticket, and how will it serve the ummah?

In today’s interview, Subina explains her driving force behind the platform and how Palestine has highlighted the importance of putting back into the Muslim ecosystem, rather than supporting organisations that don’t align with our faith.

Throughout her interview Subina’s message is loud and clear, it’s time for Muslims to take up space and bring morals and ethics across all industries.

Tell us a little more about you. Where are you from and what’s your background?

I’m originally from Birmingham but moved to Yorkshire around eight years ago. I’m a Project Manager by day in the Banking world.

What is The Muslim Ticket and its purpose?

The Muslim Ticket is an event ticking platform. Our purpose is to make it easy for Muslims to find events suitable for them and for organisers to reach their audience with ease.

How will your business serve the Ummah?

By helping them discover purposeful events which will bring them closer to Allah—InShaAllah.

What inspired you to start The Muslim Ticket? Was there a moment or experience that sparked the idea?

Palestine. I realised we were lining the pockets of those that don't align with our morals and ethics, and we need to be across every single industry and put back into the Muslim ecosystem instead. So I'm creating a Muslim events platform to uplift and unite the ummah through meaningful events, and support the Muslim ecosystem through supporting Muslim businesses and organisers.

What features will the website offer attendees and organisers?

Attendees will be able to find Muslim-friendly events in their local area, from community meetups to faith-inspired experiences. They’ll be able to follow their favourite organisers and get notified when they launch new events.

Organisers will be able to build and sell tickets to purpose-driven events, add agendas, FAQs, and highlight key facilities like prayer space, wudhu areas, and segregation. They’ll also be able fundraise and customise the checkout experience to match their goals.

What challenges have you overcome during your business journey?

I work full-time, I'm a mum, wife and Founder. Balancing all of these roles is incredibly difficult and I can't even say I have it down to a T. I try to split my time between all and spend my time working themuslimticket mostly on evenings, once the little one is in bed. Being fully present with the family can be difficult. I think I just need to put my phone away sometimes and come back to it later. I'm working on it I'd say.

What keeps you motivated when things get tough?

The purpose behind themuslimticket, building something for the ummah and putting back into our own ecosystem through supporting businesses and organisers. I also love the idea of facilitating Muslims going to events which have a positive impact in their life. I'm on a mission to serve the ummah through this platform, InShaAllah.

When is your website launching?

With your duas InShaAllah in the next few months. I'm having trouble on the development side so your duas mean the world!

How do you create the right balance between deen and dunya?

I keep Allah in my heart always. Throughout this journey Allah has been my business consultant, I do isthikhara for any key decisions I need to make and sometimes for the small ones too. What's beautiful about this startup is it's a reminder of Allah for me because I'm building for the ummah. So it's an amazing feeling to have this constant reminder of Allah, I feel like it brings me closer to Him. May Allah keep me firm upon his path and never let me deviate from it. Ameen.

Finally, what's one piece of advice you'd give to a fellow Muslim thinking of starting their own business?

Build it. Build it for the sake of Allah and Allah will pave your way. We need to be across every single industry so we can uplift the Muslim wealth cycle, bring wealth into the ummah because for too long we've been uplifting those that don't align with our morals and ethics and we've put them where they are. It’s time to foster our own ecosystem. Build a product or a business that captures a wide market too. We need to bring the wealth from inside our ecosystem from all angles, InShaAllah.
