Are you a Muslim creative or entrepreneur? Have you been in your role or business for less than one year? We want to hear from you!
Inspired by Muslim Made’s own humble beginnings, July’s theme is “Start with Bismillah”. But what does this mean? 🤔
Bismillah means “In the name of Allah”, and Muslims are encouraged to say this when starting a new endeavour. By doing so, we’re seeking Allah’s guidance and blessings for the path we’re about to lead.
In our case, we’ve started a new career or business, and we’re seeking Allah’s blessings in the hope to be successful, In’Sha’Allah.
Why We Chose This Theme
As previously mentioned, July’s theme has been inspired by the humble beginnings of this very newsletter. If you’re only just starting out with your project/business/career, so am I.
The beginning stages of any business and career can feel a little up in the air. You put so much effort into getting your foot in the door, starting that project, or launching a business. But what if it doesn’t work out? What if no one cares? And worst of all—what if you end up quitting?
July’s theme is all about supporting those who are just starting out, who are worried about their future, who have been struggling, and need that extra boost.

Submission Details and Requirements
Who you are:
You’re a Muslim creator or entrepreneur
You have:
A) Started your business in the last 12 months, or
B) Started your dream career less than 12 months ago, or
B) Have been applying for jobs in the creative industries in the last 12 months but haven’t succeeded
You have a website, blog, or active social media account showcasing your portfolio or business
You belong to any of the following categories:
Creative industries
Advertising
Animation
Art & Culture
Digital
Film
Graphic Design
Illustration
Photography
Product Design
Publishing
Sound
Events
Freelance
Lifestyle
Tech
Travel
Wellbeing
Other (state the category in your submission email)
How to Make a Submission
Submit your work by emailing yasmin.muslimmade@gmail.com with the following information:
State the category you belong to from the list above. Select 1-2 options.
Your full name, location, and bio
A link to your website, online portfolio, or social media account
A description of the work you’d like to feature
A minimum of six images or graphics. Please ensure there are no white backgrounds
If you’re submitting moving imagery, video or sound, submit these as videos on YouTube or Vimeo
Tell me a little more about you, where you studied, your style and inspirations, what you’re passionate about. This is a great time to tell me how the first year of your business/project/career is going. What are your struggles? The more you tell me, the better the feature will be. Remember: Readers want to get to know the real person behind the feature.

I’ll review your submission and get back in touch to let you know if you’ll be featured for July’s theme.
